Hey there! :D Here, have a music meme, it‘s been a long time since I did one. :)
And it‘s a really cool one, too, well, or at least I like it a lot, so I think it‘d be very awesome if you would all do it, too. (I know
isegrim_chan already did it, but hasn‘t posted it yet, so do it now, you! ;D)
The instructions are something like filling it out (duh!) and uploading the songs. Which I didn‘t, was too lazy (hey, I included youtube links!). But if you want to I can upload a certain song for you. :)
Okay, there we go! (I only noticed afterwards that there are a lot of German songs in here... about half...)
1. One of the earliest songs you can remember listening to:
Sascha, ein aufrechter Deutscher... by Die Toten Hosen.
I know this song as long as I can remember. And I always sang along to it, even when I was four. And I never ever stopped loving this song, not one second. If there is a song, I‘d be proud about to always have known it, it would be this one. :) (Random information: When I was fourtenn, one of my classmates said I was a Nazi for liking this song. That was when I realized that there is music (or books or poems...) which is just too clever for some people...)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWObLwXAgXo
2. Song from the artist you last saw live:
Well, on the concert I last went to there were five bands playing! XD But Die Ärzte were the last band to perform, so I guess I should choose them?
Hurra by Die Ärzte.
I have so many songs by them in this meme that I almost feel bad! XD Well, you‘ll have to live with it. ;D And I chose this song, well, randomly and because Farin smiles adorably in the video clip! :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFRxREFV5BY
3. Song you currently can't get out of your head:
Pogo In Togo by Balls United.
"Chaos in Laos - drums in the slums
No more bongo in Kongo
Aruba in Kuba
Hey!
Only banana in Ghana
Samba in Uganda
Pogo in Togo
Coca-Cola in Angola
And pogo, pogo in Togo!"
... I don‘t have anything to add. xD
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lCjR47ZNv8
4. Song by someone who is dead:
Hound Dog by Elvis Presley.
How can anyone not love this song? :D It‘s just so upbeat and always makes me feel so good! :) My very very very favourite Elvis song! And, you know, he‘s THE KING!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=We8P_Ww27hY
5. Song you discovered from a film:
Hallelujah, the version by John Cale.
Yeah, from Shrek, so what? It‘s my favourite version... <3 I just love John Cale‘s voice and... I just like it so much better than all the other versions. And I don‘t care if people disagree and like Rufus Wainwright more, I still think John Cale‘s the best! =D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckbdLVX736U
6. Song you love to sing along to:
Generally, I love to sing along to songs. All songs. I just love it. Okay, there are some songs I like to sing along to more, but... I just ALWAYS sing along. xD It‘s really easy for me to learn songs by heart, and then I just sing along, sometimes I don‘t even notice it. :)
So this will just be an example. :) (And you can be sure, I love singing along to every song I‘ve listed here, except the one I hate... but I still sing along to it, I just don‘t like that I do! xD)
Ich weiß nicht, ob es Liebe ist by Die Ärzte (the live version).
Yeah, it‘s kinda cracky, I know... ABER ES IST DOCH AUCH SOOOO SCHÖÖÖÖ~N! XD And you know which version‘s the crackiest? Well, the live version of course! XD And it‘s still sooo prrreeetty~! ;D
Well, anyway, I like singing along to it for those exact reasons. The melody and the text are TEH DRAMA and somehow you still can laugh about it. 'Cause it‘s cracky! xD (And by the way, this almost made the “Love Song” category! Is this something to be worried about? ;D)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FvJYxmPc9Q
7. Song you totally misunderstood the first time you heard it:
Emily by Adam Green.
Well, I just didn‘t think it‘d mean that! xD And then some host on MTV talked about it and all I thought was “Oh, oh! Okay, now the text makes more sense!” xD
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnSvrnoKiYA
8. Love song:
Alive With The Glory Of Love by Say Anything.
I totally love this. And I find it very... well, not exactly weird but kinda strange (in a cool way) how this song can be so happy and make me so happy while having such a sad background. I like how it still is optimistic when at the same time everything is so very, very dramatic.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfptieWXEJA
9. Song that makes you nostalgic:
Hurra, Hurra, die Schule brennt by Extrabreit.
My father had an Extrabreit record that I loved listening to, and this was my favourite song. I also liked “Hart wie Marmelade” and “Flieger, grüß mir die Sonne”, but I liked this one best. I also totally knew the text by heart (I still do...) and sang it every time I had nothing better to do (I might still do...). xD
I think some boygroup or something covered the song some time ago, and I didn‘t like it, and told everybody how fantastic the original version is. xD
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myyd5HAzxqg
10. Song that makes you cry:
Sonne by Farin Urlaub.
At the moment I really can‘t think of a song that really made me cry, but this song almost does. And maybe it would, if I weren‘t such a cold-hearted bitch! xD No, really, it almost does make me cry. ;_;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4QdcHv7ut0
11. Song that makes you laugh:
Traumfrau by WIZO.
Okay, this song makes me laugh for two reasons. One, the text is just so exaggerated that it makes me laugh, and two, this melody? Makes my mood really good. :) “Weedeedee weedeedee weedeedee~!” ;D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwIkkYz--HQ
12. Song that makes you want to dance:
Good Morning, Herr Horst by Mando Diao.
This song does not only make me wanna dance, it just makes me dance. XD And that‘s what many Mando Diao songs do to me... (And it was so hard to decide for this song and against “Long Before Rock‘n‘Roll” or “Down In The Past”!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBRRMO6DBwg
13. Song with food in the title:
Lollipop by Mika.
A lollipop is considered food, right? RIGHT?! XD I once listened to this song for four hours on repeat (when we drove home from our classtrip to Weimar) and I still like it, so this has to mean something... :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F99IuKUCAc4
14. Song that creeps you out:
Stay Awake sung by Suzanne Vega.
It gives me goosebumps. This version is just so... yeah, well, scary. At least that‘s what I think... o_O
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbAuWLSJlB0 (Ignore the strange SPN vid, this was the only video of the song I could find on YouTube. xD)
15. Really good cover song:
Geh‘n wie ein Ägypter by Die Ärzte.
Truth to be told, I never cared much about “Walk Like An Egyptian”... But I always loved the German version. This could have something to do with the fact that my mother liked the German version more, too, and so whenever “Walk Like An Egyptian” played on the radio, she consequently told me how much better the German version was. And sometimes began to sing it. XD And I learned to love the German version long before I knew that it was by Die Ärzte... Sometime later when I was what you might call an Ärzte fan (I think I was... eleven? xD) and heard that it was by them, I just thought “cool! :D” and continued loving it.
That‘s a long story, eh? XD And I don‘t know if it had any point. XD Fact is, I like this cover version more than the original!
(*points to #5* That‘s another awesome cover song. And even covered in the language it was originally sung in. ;D)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0Qs5H-f8Yw
16. Song about dreaming or waking up:
Dreaming Of You by The Coral.
Yeah, yeah, I know, it‘s not really about dreaming, but, hey, who cares? It‘s such a pretty, upbeat song that I just have to love it. I also like how lyrics and melody contrast. :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRy8N1P1EUI
17. Song you like from an artist that you otherwise don't like:
Augen auf by Sido.
I totally agree with this song. And I like the melody. And I agree. And normally, I don‘t like Sido, but since he recorded this song I think I may have to change my opinion. 'Cause I really like it. But then again, I hate all his mysoginist songs...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52emOs0WOAA
18. Song you hate:
You‘re Beautiful by James Blunt.
Argh, I hate it. He‘s such a... Heulboje! (I don‘t know the English word, but “Heulboje” is just so fitting...) I‘d like to go up to him, shake him and shout at him, “Stop cryin‘, you pussy!” xD
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Y7WDWP8WMs
19. Wildcard:
Hey Du by Beatsteaks (the live version).
I love the Beatsteaks, I love that song, and I love the video clip, it might just be my favourite... :D (Live versions rooooock! \o/)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cn9aSf9kP6M
20. Song that would define your personality or life or something defining about you:
Mouthwash by Kate Nash.
Well, yeah, the song has a lot of lines and aspects I agree with and which I think are at least kind of fitting. For example, I love tea, that‘s something, isn‘t it? ;D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UW6EP3-Q-DA
No, no, wait! I‘ll totally link another song! XD 'Cause I can! Ha! XD ... Let‘s make that two songs, they‘re about the same aspect of my personality anyway... And this is the last point of the meme, so who cares? ;D
Verschwende deine Zeit by Silbermond.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ekELxPJl7Q
Ruhig angehn by Die Ärzte.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhMbgu8nYEQ
I just think that sometimes you should relax and chill. ;D
“Puh, das war harter Stoff!”, eh? ;D (Took me hours to fill out, it's always so hard to decide!)
And it‘s a really cool one, too, well, or at least I like it a lot, so I think it‘d be very awesome if you would all do it, too. (I know

15. Because it's PUNK! ;D Geht eben einfach mehr ab, ne?
18. Oh, you, too? :D Nice, there aren't that many people disliking the song as much as me... xD
19. Really? xD Cool! Well, Beatsteaks are awesome of course. :)
Yes, yes, please do! :D And then tell me how you like them. :)
